Trollface Pumpkin Is Trolling

Best pumpkin ever, and it was on our neighbours front lawn! They seemed equally impressed I recognized Trollface.

This was my contribution to the art of Jack-o-lantern carving. Not so great, but the light made for some cool, fiery eyes.

And this, for those who don't know, is me as a fatter, whiter DJ Lance Rock from Yo Gabba Gabba.

The Style of Music: Iconic Male Musicians

My style is mostly non-existent - on the poster above I might be able to pull off a Ramones look, but nowhere near as cool. That said, I do appreciate the look and I'm a sucker for all-in-on collections.

L-R: Jim Morrison, Johnny Cash, Kurt Cobain, Kiss, Chet Baker, Michael Jackson, Run DMC, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Prince, Kanye West, Marvin Gaye, The Ramones, Andre3000, Pharell Williams, Brandon Flowers, Pete Doherty, The Beatles, Miles Davis.

The Wizard of Toy Story

There's No Place Like Andy's! Pop artist Sam Carter paints the cast of Toy Story as the characters from The Wizard of Oz. Woody is the Scarecrow; Jessie as Dorothy; Buzz Lightyear as the Tin Man and Rex as the Cowardly Lion. The barrel full of monkeys as the flying monkeys is a nice touch.

What If Bill Murray Played Everyone In Wes Anderson's Films?

It would probably look a lot like Casey Weldon's paintings for the upcoming ‘Bad Dads’ art tribute to the films of Wes Anderson. And I would watch the hell out of those movies. To be honest I can't even tell the difference with the Gwyneth Paltrow portrait.

Clockwise from the top left: Max Fischer (Rushmore); Chas Tenenbaum (The Royal Tenenbaums); Anne-Marie Sakowitz (The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou); Margot Helen Tenenbaum (The Royal Tenenbaums); Francis (The Darjeeling Limited); Richie Tenenbaum (The Royal Tenenbaums). Go to Casey's blog for larger versions of each painting.

Pop Culture Last Supper

Dave MacDowell once again makes my brain hurt with his pop culture-stuffed paintings, this time a Popped Culture favourite, the Last Supper. Is that Robert Redford's The Candidate as Judas and Olivia Newton-John's Sandy as the apostle John, (or Mary Magdelene)?

The rest, from the left: Optimus Prime, Chewbacca, Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette from True Romance, Johnny Depp from 21 Jump Street, Brad Pitt from Fight Club, Andy Wharol, Cornelius from Planet of the Apes and Hong Kong Phooey. Not sure who is on the far right. Anyone?

Omar's Coming! Do Not Pass Go, Do Not Collect $200

A Monopoly version of The Wire? Oh, hell yes! From The Poke:
Based around the journey a young gangster might take through the fictionalised Baltimore of the show, players move from corner to stoop, past institutions featured in successive series like the school system and the stevedores union, acquiring real estate, money and power before ending up at the waterfront developments and City Hall itself.

“We hope The Wire Monopoly game will go down well not just with fans of the show, but everyone who secretly wishes to be a poor violent black drug dealer from America.
I would play this in a heartbeat. (Link via The Ampersand)
